This book is something of a leadership bible for many thousands of people across the world. It certainly has been for me, and for a good number of my colleagues.
John Maxwell has distilled 21 characteristics of leadership that he believes are pivotal to being a good leader – hence him entitling them “laws”. I think he’s right.
Each chapter deals with one of the 21 laws, and explains exactly what it is, and why it is important. The 21 Laws deal with : The Lid, Influence, Process, Navigation, Addition, Solid Ground, Respect, Intuition, Magnetism, Connection, The Inner Circle, Empowerment, The Picture, Buy-In, Victory, The Big Mo, Priorities, Sacrifice, Timing, Explosive Growth, Legacy.
This is an easy read; Maxwell talks, in his introduction, of a conversation between author and reader. That’s the way the book feels.
Steven Covey has written the foreword. He says, inter alia, “If “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” is new to you, let me say that you are in for a treat. It will change the way you live and lead. As you read, you will be encouraged and your ability to lead will expand…You will learn many new lessons as well as being reminded of truths that will serve you well.”
This is a lifetime reference book for aspiring, new and established leaders – very highly recommended. ☺
